2011. Cleveland, Ohio. Random church parking lot.
We were 16 and locked eyes over the sea of our youth group and grandparents. Little did we know, we both had just met our future wife. Chelsea remembers thinking Melinda was way too cool for her, if she even noticed her at all through her fog of depression and angst after moving across the country. Melinda was too busy missing her shitty boyfriend to give Chelsea one ounce of attention.
During the remainder of our high school careers, we spent more time together at various events, bibles studies, and mission trips. We formed a friendship based on mutual respect, goofy humor, and growing up in the mid-west. Following graduation, Chelsea followed a life of rule-following, and Melinda went a little off the rails. We disconnected during college, following our own paths of discovery, growth, and maturity, crucial to our love story.
2021. Raleigh, North Carolina. Sir Walter Coffee.
Ten years later, after Chelsea moved back to the area, our brothers encouraged us to reconnect. We met up for coffee, hesitant and having no idea what to expect from each other. The conversation that day picked up like time had not passed at all. We became close friends, and started dating several months after reconnecting. Chelsea swears she knew from that first reconnecting coffee at Sir Walter that we were destined. Melinda caught up pretty quick.
As our relationship has matured and evolved, we love celebrating our mutual independence and goals within our relationship. We share a passion for travel and discovery, and are always growing both together and as individuals. Our lives have overlapped seamlessly, full of love and safely, and of course, cats.
